The random melodies are nice but makes you feel that something is missing that needs to completed, like taking those melodies layering them with texture and soundscape with some nice mellow beats with time duration like we do it arrangement in a daw.. i am not sure it can be done in VCV with ease... say 5 minutes of goodness with transition, fade in , fade out till the end.

I remember from my programming days, how confusing the 0=one construct was at first. Now it is second nature. It helps to not think of it as 0=one but as 0=first. It's just semantics, but for my addled brain it helped. Great video! I learned a lot. Thanks so much (also for your other videos!).

Interesting to look at this old video, because since you moved away from the granular sound your music became a lot more unique and effective to me. I’ve never quite understood the appeal for granular/looping synthesis, which to me always ends up sounding the same kind of glitchy/grainy sound, no matter what you feed it. And the music then often becomes more about “sound design” than composition. Anyway, it doesn’t take away anything from this video for people who are into this, but I thought that was cool to see you mature and rely on the foundations of composition and more controlled sounds over the years.

Every video I learn something (many somethings) - especially things which are very simple yet extremely useful. I never noticed that the BGA S&H had smoothing built-in!!!

Terrorform by Valley has a one shot sync mode, and, really, any oscillator can be used for pulsar- type effects if you control the level with an envelope whose duration is close to the wavelength of the oscillator, triggering the envelope and the sync input at audio/sub audio rates. You don't have to do the math, just use your ears and maybe a scope to find the right combination of trigger freq, oscillator freq, and envelope. (PS Rampage has v/oct control.)

Many Thanks, Omri. I have loved playing with this. I have one quibble/question. If I understand correctly, the way the "corrupt" knobs work in your patch is to increasingly randomize both the Triggers in the sequences as well as the step values (the gates and CV values coming from the Morpheus plugin) . Looking at the documentation for the Labrynth and a demo, you can randomize the CV output while keeping the triggers fixed using just the first half of the corrupt knob. Specifically the manual says: "From fully counterclockwise to 12 o’clock, CORRUPT will increasingly randomly change the CV value located at the current write head position in SEQ1 or SEQ2. Above 12 o’clock, it will flip the bit value as well with increasing probability." In order to have this functionality in your patch, I presume you would need to add 2 additional copies of Morpheus to separate the Gate outputs from the CV outputs for each sequence. I couldn't figure out a way to drive these correctly from a single knob in patchmaster so I guess you would really need 2 knobs for each sequencer which would somewhat ruin the beauty of matching the Labrynth interface. Am I correct and if so, what do you think?

Labyrinth not as elegant as your presentation. One voice being shared across two sequencers ? Your VCV rack stuff has almost pulled me in. I've been doing this stuff with midi and came up with similar results - sequencers sequencing sequencers which sequence sequencers. The timing of this video was perfect though - I just concluded two sequencers running in parallel as a 'base' and then a Euclidean sequencer over top for deviation. Except mine is using midi in patcher. I suspect all DAW software is actually just meta midi - VCV is the same but updates 'voltages' frequently. For example, an 'or' gate would have a truth table - midi does not. Which can be a weakness compared with modular, but sometimes can be a strength.

I tried out this patch today, it's a lot of fun. The behavior of the sequencer is a little strange in that when you lock it (corruption zero) it seems to get stuck on a single pitch or short loop, which basically breaks it (you can actually observe this behavior in the video at 22:10, it's stuck in a short loop). This problem seems to stem from Morpheus itself, although maybe I misunderstand the module. I ended up getting more consistent results by setting the second Morpheus to 100% source so at least I could get it on a good loop, and then the top one corrupts. The other thing that helped me was manually setting some of the notes on the quantizer, I found I was able to get much more musical results by using a smaller scale; with the full scales it feels pretty chromatic regardless of the chosen scale. Anyway, great work, and a lot of fun to play with.

That's a very satisfying patch! Thank you so much for sharing. I have tried routing MOD VCO to the clocks and VCO v/OCT to try rungling with it. More playtime is required to explore the possibilities. Cheers!
